Ungrateful Emocratic Pundits

I watched Seattle's own Dan Savage on MSNBC the other day, and he couldn't seem to acknowledge Obama's kept promise in the repeal of DADT. His "we MADE him do it" meme strikes me as profoundly ungrateful, as if Obama really didn't want to do it. Maddow credited President Obama, but grudgingly, and had to make the point that it was a Democratic law that was repealed, as if that made this historic accomplishment somehow less.
I watched Michael Moore gush all over our President's "new tone", as if he'd been backing Obama all along.
Really? That's all it took? They need yelling and screaming, not actual achievement?
Ralph Nader, appearing on Lawrence O'Donnell failed to acknowledge *any* accomplishments of President Obama, including the repeal of DADT.
He preferred to pontificate about why it's a "great idea to Primary Obama", so "Real Progressives" could "challenge Obama" on far-fetched ideologically pure Progressive stances that we could argue about all day, and that have a snowball's chance in Hell of ever being taken seriously by the majority of Americans. These people are fickle, disingenuous, and full of bitterness that they were , and still are wrong.

An Emocratic Tea Party?

One of the things that's been driving me craziest over the last three years is how Democrats and So-Called Progressives have become our worst enemies.
Yesterday, Thom Hartmann continued spreading the meme that we Progressives "need to have our own Tea Party." Meaning that we should stand on principle and obstruct any progress that doesn't fit in with our ideology. So, which ideologies are those? Some of us keep forgetting that there are so many different platforms within the Democratic party-- not to mention the Greens, the Socialists, the Anarchists...not to mention more Mainstream Democrats...and let's not forget Southern Evangelicals, and other people of Faith who have been belittled and ridiculed by us--right out of the Democratic Party and into the not-so-loving arms of the TeaPublicans. The problem of creating a Progressive version of the Tea Party and trying to take over the Democratic party by infiltrating it is this--unlike the Tea Party, a lot of our views would be seen as "fringe" views by a good half of the country. It might be easier if we tried taking...dare I say it-- a middle path; a Pragmatic path that we can all get behind, and have a snowball's chance in Hell of coming to fruition.
